Malaysia is considering a permanent return to the Formula 1 calendar after successfully hosting the relocated Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit on October 4. Youth and Sports Minister Mohammed Taufiq Johari announced that discussions are underway for an annual or rotational slot, with a detailed assessment set for cabinet review by November.
The October race generated an estimated 950 million ringgit ($233 million) in economic returns following its relocation due to Middle East tensions. However, officials cautioned that substantial hosting fees, infrastructure demands, and long-term sustainability must be carefully evaluated before committing to a formal agreement.
