Lando Norris has impressed Jenson Button with his efforts in the McLaren MCL40 this year, but Oscar Piastri has now started to catch his eye…

Former world champion Jenson Button stated that Oscar Piastri appears to be turning his season around, calling his recent progress "great to see." Piastri has faced a challenging 2026 campaign alongside McLaren teammate Lando Norris as the team struggled with the philosophy of their MCL40 chassis under Formula 1's new regulations. Piastri also faced difficulties adapting his driving style to the car's sliding rear end.
Despite trailing Norris 11-6 in qualifying and 9-8 in race results ahead of the United States Grand Prix, Piastri showed improved pace in recent rounds, including Baku and Singapore. McLaren plans to adopt a longer wheelbase next season, while recent upgrades have aided Piastri's recovery following early podiums in Japan and Miami.
