Audi inspired McLaren for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri’s ‘dramatically revised’ Baku upgrade

McLaren is introducing a major aerodynamic upgrade package on the MCL40 for drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. The team has targeted the low-downforce street circuit to enhance top speed, unveiling dramatically revised sidepods alongside a new underbody upgrade.

The new design incorporates concepts from rival teams, featuring a steeper sidepod slope inspired by Mercedes and Ferrari. Additionally, McLaren adopted a vertical inlet design inspired by Audi, creating a larger opening to shift their aerodynamic concept and modify airflow from the front axle.
