Mercedes deputy team principal Bradley Lord praised Lewis Hamilton for showing Kimi Antonelli the ultimate sign of respect following the Mexico Grand Prix. After Antonelli secured the Formula 1 world championship, Hamilton coordinated with race winner Max Verstappen on the podium to lift the 20-year-old Italian onto their shoulders in celebration.
Lord described the podium gesture as game recognizing game and called it a very special moment between racing drivers. Antonelli, who sealed the championship title with four races remaining, stated in his post-race press conference that he plans to frame the iconic photo of the celebration in his home.
