Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has insisted that the team will maintain an equal driver policy as Kimi Antonelli and George Russell contest the Drivers' Championship. Russell cut Antonelli's championship lead to 66 points following his victory at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, leaving eight races remaining in the season. Wolff stated that both drivers will receive equal opportunities and strategic parity, while reiterating that the team's interests always come first.

Mercedes also has an engine upgrade scheduled for October, though implementing the new power unit would require both Russell and Antonelli to take grid penalties.
