Despite insisting on intermediate tyres, Ollie Bearman revealed his team decided to split car strategies without his knowledge.

Haas driver Oliver Bearman expressed frustration over a late tire strategy change that compromised his race at the Sepang International Circuit. Bearman wanted to start the wet-weather race on intermediate tires, but Haas opted to split strategies without his advance knowledge. As a result, Bearman was placed on slick tires while his teammate Esteban Ocon started on intermediates.
Bearman ultimately finished the race in 14th place, just ahead of Ocon in 15th. The 21-year-old explained that taking the riskier strategy while running as the lead car caused him to fall 40 seconds behind the midfield, costing him an opportunity to battle for points despite strong pace.
