Jean Todt recalls intense Ferrari pressure as Fred Vasseur faces familiar scrutiny

Former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt reflected on the intense scrutiny and anxiety he faced during his early years leading the Scuderia. His reflections come as current team principal Fred Vasseur experiences similar pressure after four years in charge. Todt revealed on the 21News podcast that Alain Prost had warned him he might not last two seasons in Maranello when he arrived from Peugeot in 1993.

Todt recalled enduring campaigns against him in the Italian media, particularly in 1996, before receiving strong public support from driver Michael Schumacher and Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. Despite continuous early anxiety and self-doubt, Todt noted that building a capable, efficient team eventually enabled Ferrari to achieve sustained championship success from 2000 to 2004.
