Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson cleared the air following their collision during the second free practice session at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Lawson visited Verstappen on Saturday morning to apologize for the contact, which Verstappen had previously criticized. Following the incident, FIA stewards handed Verstappen a one-place grid penalty to set an example, dropping him to fifth on the starting grid after qualifying fourth.
When asked about who deserves the 2027 Racing Bulls seat between Lawson and junior driver Nikola Tsolov, Verstappen declined to share his personal opinion. Verstappen noted that having multiple emerging talents creates difficult choices, stating he will leave the driver selection entirely up to the team.
