The Story in 60 Seconds

Dauphin Highlands, a popular public golf course in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, permanently closed on October 12, 2026, to make way for a $10 billion data center. The 18-hole parkland course, designed by Bill Love, had operated since 1995. The Dauphin County General Authority chose to sell the 228-acre property after the facility accrued $13 million in debt over years of steady financial losses.

The property was sold in December 2025 to Harrisburg I, LLC, owned by Provident Realty, for $45.6 million. Local officials stated the deal will bring tens of millions of dollars in municipal benefits, with construction on the 400,000-square-foot data center slated to begin in 2027.
