Smotherman held off the challenge of Doug Ghim to win the FedExCup Fall tournament

Austin Smotherman claimed his maiden PGA Tour title with a two-shot victory over Doug Ghim at the Bank of Utah Championship. The 32-year-old entered the final round at Black Desert Resort with a one-shot lead before fending off multiple challengers on Sunday to secure the win in his 100th career start on the circuit.
Despite a double bogey that briefly cut his lead, Smotherman rebounded with a birdie at the 14th hole and finished with a final birdie at the 18th. Ghim, David Ford, and Trace Crowe mounted strong challenges down the stretch, but Smotherman held firm to become the ninth first-time winner on the tour this season.
