Bryson DeChambeau utilized Google’s Gemini AI to address swing issues during the recent LIV Golf Korea event, a critical adjustment ahead of the U.S. Open. Following struggles in the second and third rounds, DeChambeau credited the AI with helping him identify and correct mechanical flaws, leading to improved ball striking.
DeChambeau’s swing difficulties emerged late in the first round. He noted: “The beginning of the first round I felt great. Golf swing felt in sync and then it started getting out of sync.” He said: “[My] hands just felt like they were moving forward like this and I couldn’t get the club to turn over. Even if I tried to stop it here, it still wouldn’t turn over.” This technical deficit impacted his ability to control the club face, a problem that persisted through subsequent rounds.
After unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue on the practice range, DeChambeau turned to artificial intelligence. He stated: “I was talking to AI quite a bit last night trying to go through some different physics principles that makes the club turn over, having some alpha torque and gamma torque put in there.” The interaction with Google’s Gemini AI helped identify grip pressure and tension as key contributing factors.
DeChambeau reported immediate improvements following these adjustments. He observed: “I came out here today with just a little bit more freer hands, and I felt the club a lot better, and I felt like I could close the club a lot more effectively and then I started striping it.” This strategic correction comes at a crucial juncture for the golfer.
With the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills just weeks away, DeChambeau’s ability to maintain this refined ball striking will be closely observed. His recent missed cut at the PGA Championship underscores the importance of consistent form.
