Bryson DeChambeau snubbed Rory McIlroy's indirect invitation to play at the Irish Open.

American golfer Bryson DeChambeau did not participate in the Irish Open, despite previously expressing interest and receiving an indirect invitation from Rory McIlroy. McIlroy had publicly stated that having DeChambeau at the tournament would be great for the event, to which DeChambeau responded positively earlier in the summer.
While the two golfers have recently clashed at The Open Championship, DeChambeau's absence is reportedly linked to pressing concerns regarding LIV Golf. The breakaway league filed for bankruptcy protection earlier in September 2026 and is currently seeking to restructure.
