Daniel Hillier hit a hole-in-one on the 17th hole during the opening round of the Spanish Open, winning an all-electric BMW iX5 SUV. Despite admitting he mis-hit his 8-iron shot off the toe, the 28-year-old New Zealander aced the 187-yard par-3 at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid to claim the prize valued at approximately $157,000.
The ace propelled Hillier to an opening round 4-under 67, placing him tied for fourth. Grant Forrest, Connor Syme, and Eugenio Chacarra led the tournament after first-round scores of 5-under 66.
