Mizuno Golf has identified a clubface deformation issue in a limited number of its Pro M-13 No. 6, No. 7, and No. 8 irons, initiating a replacement support program for eligible products. The company confirms the condition poses no safety risk, with an occurrence rate remaining very low.
The issue, identified as clubface deformation through normal use, primarily affects the No. 6, No. 7, and No. 8 irons within the Mizuno Pro M-13 range. These specific lofts possess a different face construction compared to the No. 4, No. 5, No. 9, PW, and GW models, which have demonstrated expected durability and are therefore unaffected. Mizuno’s assessment indicates a very low occurrence rate, approximately 0.33% of products in EMEA as of May 2026, with higher clubhead speeds potentially correlating with the condition. Despite this, the company emphasizes that the overall rate remains low, and the condition does not affect all products.
Customers owning Mizuno Pro M-13 No. 6, No. 7, or No. 8 irons are advised to inspect their clubfaces for any signs of deformation. A straightforward visual check involves placing a flat-edged item, such as a ruler, perpendicular to the clubface grooves. This method allows golfers to ascertain if the flat edge sits flush or if any separation indicates an affected head. Products showing no deformation are considered unaffected and can be used normally, as the issue does not present any safety concerns or risk of physical injury. For those with confirmed deformation, replacement support is available within the two-year warranty period, requiring proof of purchase and contact with the original retailer to initiate the warranty returns process. Mizuno also detailed that going forward, any replaced products will feature a “●” laser mark with the description, ” laser mark to the right of “CHROMOLY” on the hosel (neck), to signify newly manufactured and unaffected heads. This measure aims to ensure customer confidence and maintain the brand’s commitment to product quality and performance. Customers who have ordered but not yet received M-13 irons are advised to contact their retailer to begin the process of switching to an alternative model, mitigating potential future inconvenience.
