The Story in 60 Seconds

PGA Tour winner Adam Hadwin received a two-stroke penalty during the opening round of the Korn Ferry Tour Championship for playing from the wrong place. Operating under preferred lies at The Federal Club, Hadwin took a full club-length of relief instead of the permitted scorecard length on the second hole. After noticing his playing partners using scorecard relief, Hadwin self-reported the infraction to a rules official, turning an initial par into a double bogey.

Hadwin rebounded with a four-under-par 67 on Friday to sit tied for 24th at five-under par. Needing a tournament victory to regain full PGA Tour playing privileges for the 2027 season, he currently sits 54th in the season-long points standings with only the top 20 securing cards.
