Russell Henley won the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge, defeating Eric Cole with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff. The victory is Henley’s sixth on the PGA Tour and earned him a winner’s prize of $1.782 million.
Both players finished regulation play at 12 under par at Colonial Country Club, a venue that presented a difficult test all week. Following a tournament characterized by low scores at TPC Craig Ranch, Colonial’s layout held the field in check. Only ten players managed to finish the event with a score of double-digits under par. Henley and Cole were the only two to reach 12 under, setting up the playoff.
The win provides a significant boost to Henley’s season, improving his position in the FedEx Cup standings and his official world golf ranking ahead of the year’s next major championship. For Cole, the runner-up finish marks a career-best payday of $1,079,100. While he continues to seek his first PGA Tour victory, the result provides valuable security for the remainder of the season.
Behind the leaders, a three-way tie for third place included Ben Griffin, Alex Smalley, and Mac Meissner, with each player earning $524,700.
