Scottish golfers Connor Syme and Grant Forrest share a three-way lead with Spain's Eugenio Chacarra after the opening round of the Open de Espana in Madrid. All three players carded a five-under-par 66 at Real Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, while Sergio Garcia sits just one stroke behind in a tie for fourth place.
Chacarra matched the lead despite battling physical pain that makes walking difficult, noting he will evaluate his fitness before the second round. Daniel Hillier also shot a four-under 67 alongside Garcia, winning a car with a hole-in-one on the 17th hole, while Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed finished at two over par.
