Former Masters champion Sergio Garcia is seeking to "terminate" his LIV contract in court, opening up pathways to other career opportunities.

Sergio Garcia's legal team has filed a court request seeking clarity on whether his LIV Golf contract is terminated following the league's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. If it is not formally ended, Garcia wants judicial authorization to terminate the agreement himself to explore other playing opportunities. The 2017 Masters champion has previously expressed a desire to compete more frequently on the DP World Tour during the 2027 season.
Garcia's attorneys argued that an unresolved contract causes uncertainty that could lead tournament organizers and prospective sponsors to hesitate. LIV Golf filed for bankruptcy in September and aims to launch a 10-event circuit branded as LIV 2.0 in 2027. Meanwhile, PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp has reiterated that any players seeking to return to the PGA Tour must prove they are entirely free of lingering contractual obligations.
