Kim shot 6-under-par in the final round to win by three strokes.
South Korean golfer Tom Kim won the men's individual gold medal at the Asian Games on Saturday, shooting a final-round six-under-par 64. Kim had previously held the lead following a third-round 65. The victory allows Kim to avoid mandatory military service in South Korea, preventing an interruption to his professional career on the PGA Tour.
Kim had entered the final day leading the individual competition while South Korea also led the team event. The gold medal fulfills South Korea's exemption criteria for elite athletes, ensuring Kim can continue competing internationally without pause.
