Tour Pro’s Caddie Walks Off Mid-Round At Biltmore Championship

Alejandro Tosti's caddie, Cliff Ellis, walked off the course midway through the opening round of the Biltmore Championship on Thursday. Walking up the 18th fairway following eight consecutive pars, the two were seen in an apparent heated discussion before Ellis removed his bib and exited. Following the departure, Tosti enlisted a spectator from the gallery to carry his bag for the remainder of the round.

Tosti carded a one-over-par 72 on Thursday and shot level-par on Friday, missing the tournament cut by four strokes. The incident adds to past controversies for the Argentinian golfer, including a 2023 Korn Ferry Tour suspension and a 2025 slow-play accusation at the Texas Children's Houston Open. Neal Shipley led the tournament at 15-under par at the halfway stage.
