Ashlee Nitro nearing end of remarkable racing career

Caboolture trainer Stewart Dickson has revealed that veteran standardbred mare Ashlee Nitro is approaching retirement ahead of her 323rd career start at Redcliffe. Dickson stated that he plans to race the 10-year-old mare for a short period before potentially putting her in foal this year, considering stallions Vincent or For A Reason.

Ashlee Nitro holds the track record with 35 wins at Redcliffe and boasts 38 total career victories with nearly $219,000 in stakes earnings. Leonard Cain is booked to drive her from gate five on Thursday, with Dickson also expressing confidence in seven-year-old mare Connies Spirit at the same meeting.
