The Story in 60 Seconds

Fasig-Tipton's Eastern Fall Yearling Sale in Timonium features a new format that groups horses by their breeding state across seven Eastern regions. The sale catalog includes 269 yearlings, up from 225 last year, and introduces a $500,000 Preakness Stakes bonus. Frank Alosa explained that horses bred outside the region will sell first, followed by state-specific groups to highlight local breeding incentives.

The restructuring aims to boost regional breeding programs amid declining numbers of active stallions and mares bred across Mid-Atlantic states. The catalog offers offspring from prominent national sires such as Arcangelo and Cody's Wish alongside established regional stallions. Additionally, the consignment of the late longtime consignor Bill Reightler continues operations at this year's event.
