Grand National-winning trainer Dr Richard Newland has pulled all of his horses from races with immediate effect after three horses tested positive for strangles. The British Horseracing Authority confirmed that Newland's yard in Worcestershire will not have any runners, and no horses are permitted to enter or leave the premises until the outbreak is contained.
The three infected horses are currently isolated in a biosecure environment to prevent transmission, while all other horses are being closely monitored. Strangles is a highly contagious disease affecting equine lymph nodes, causing symptoms such as fever, nasal discharge, coughing, and breathing difficulties.
