An eight-year MLB veteran immediately became a free agent after spending five seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Philadelphia Phillies utility infielder Edmundo Sosa has officially reached free agency following the conclusion of the World Series. The eight-year MLB veteran spent five seasons with the Phillies after being acquired in a trade from the St. Louis Cardinals in 2022. Sosa is one of seven Phillies players to enter free agency after the club was eliminated in the National League Wild Card Series.
During the 2026 season, the 30-year-old infielder hit .247 with nine home runs and 44 RBI across 84 games. Spotrac projects Sosa to secure a one-year contract worth approximately $6 million on the open market this offseason.
