Back in January, the Diamondbacks acquired Nolan Arenado from the Cardinals with the hope that he’d provide veteran stability at the hot corner as they made a run at a Wild Card.
Nolan Arenado completed a strong comeback campaign with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2026 after struggling from 2023 to 2025. Across the season, the 35-year-old third baseman batted .255/.331/.475 with 30 home runs, 86 RBIs, and a 120 wRC+, fueled by a dominant September surge in which he hit nine homers with an exceptional 1.155 OPS.
MLB Trade Rumors notes that underlying Statcast metrics present warning signs regarding regression, citing career lows in exit velocity and hard-hit rate alongside an expected slugging percentage of just .366. Arenado remains under contract for 2027 at a $15 million salary, with Arizona responsible for paying only $6 million as the St. Louis Cardinals cover the remainder.
