Veteran relief pitcher Derek Law has elected free agency, according to his MiLB.com transaction tracker. The Arizona Diamondbacks designated the 36-year-old right-hander for assignment in mid-September, and he returned to the open market after clearing waivers and being outrighted to Triple-A.
Law joined Arizona on a minor league contract in January while recovering from flexor tendon surgery. After a setback delayed his debut until late August, Law posted six scoreless outings following his first appearance, despite pitching with reduced fastball and cutter velocity.
