Diamondbacks’ defense gets its flowers with four Gold Glove finalists

Four Arizona Diamondbacks players were named finalists for the 2026 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards on Wednesday. Shortstop Geraldo Perdomo, catcher Gabriel Moreno, right fielder Corbin Carroll, and utility player Ildemaro Vargas each earned nominations. The recognition highlights Arizona's overall defensive growth, as the team finished the season with the second-fewest errors in Major League Baseball.

Moreno led National League catchers with 14 defensive runs saved, while Perdomo ranked second in the NL with eight defensive runs saved and 16 outs above average. Carroll earned his second consecutive finalist selection after tallying 12 defensive runs saved in right field, and Vargas secured his first career finalist nod for his multi-position utility defense.
