The Tampa Bay Rays' season ended with a 4-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 5 of the World Series.

MLB insider Bob Nightengale suggested on Foul Territory that the Tampa Bay Rays could pursue a trade for Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Ketel Marte this winter. Nightengale argued that Arizona would be more motivated to trade Marte at a lower asking price and pointed to veteran Yandy Diaz as the strong clubhouse presence needed to manage Marte.
However, any potential permanent trade faces significant obstacles, as Marte holds a full no-trade clause and is owed $87.5 million over five years. Analysts note that lingering clubhouse issues, including an unexcused absence in August, alongside an impending collective bargaining agreement expiration, make any trade difficult to complete.
