Only Ketel Marte knows if he’s a truly a trade candidate or not, as the ball is in the second baseman’s court when it comes to approving a deal. Marte
MLB Trade Rumors reports that Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte has emerged as a potential trade candidate following ongoing friction with the organization. Tension has mounted due to unannounced absences over several seasons, drawing public criticism from manager Torey Lovullo and managing general partner Ken Kendrick, who expressed hope that Marte overcomes repeated acts of immaturity.
However, any potential trade faces major hurdles. Marte achieved 10-and-5 rights in April, giving him full no-trade protection to veto any deal. Additionally, MLB Trade Rumors notes that Marte is owed $87.5 million over the next five years, recently turned 33, and is coming off a down offensive season.
