Astros Have Spoken To Josh Barfield, Randy Flores About GM Vacancy

The Houston Astros have spoken with White Sox assistant GM Josh Barfield and Cardinals assistant GM Randy Flores regarding their vacant general manager position. According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Houston could make a hire before the conclusion of the World Series. Brewers assistant GM Matt Kleine and in-house candidate Connor Huff are also reported to be among those in consideration.

Houston has been searching for a new general manager for two months after owner Jim Crane dismissed Dana Brown in August. Both Barfield and Flores are former MLB players with extensive front-office backgrounds, with Flores serving as St. Louis' assistant GM for nine years and Barfield contributing to Chicago's baseball operations since 2023.
