Athletics Interview Mike Groopman, Taylor Smith For GM Vacancy

The Athletics have interviewed Boston Red Sox assistant general managers Mike Groopman and Taylor Smith for their vacant general manager position. The initial video interviews are part of a broad search to replace former GM David Forst, who was let go in early August. Dan Feinstein has been serving as the club's interim general manager since Forst's departure.

Groopman and Smith join a candidate pool that includes former Nationals president Mike Rizzo and A's assistant GM Billy Owens. Former Astros GM James Click is also considered a serious candidate for the role. Groopman is in his fifth season with Boston, while Smith joined the Red Sox front office in November 2024.
