The Athletics announced on Friday that they have declined their 2027 club options on infielder Jeff McNeil and starting pitcher Jeffrey Springs. Both options exceeded $15 million, leading the organization to make the veterans free agents following difficult campaigns in 2026 as the club shifts its focus to younger talent.
McNeil posted a .264/.313/.368 slash line with nine home runs in 2026, while Springs surrendered 35 home runs across 29 starts. Connor Ashford notes the Athletics are now awaiting a decision from starting pitcher Luis Severino regarding his $22 million option.
