2026 Atlanta Braves Player Review: Owen Murphy

Curt Weiler of Battery Power reviews Owen Murphy's 2026 season, highlighting the right-hander's struggles to translate minor league success to the majors. Murphy made his MLB debut on July 6 against the New York Mets after Martin Pérez was placed on the injured list. Over five appearances and 12 innings for the Atlanta Braves, Murphy recorded a -0.3 fWAR, a 6.93 FIP, and surrendered four home runs.

While Murphy demonstrated strong strike-throwing ability with only three walks and a 34.7 percent chase rate, Weiler notes that poor secondary command led to loud contact and hard-hit balls. Weiler concludes that the 23-year-old was not quite ready to remain in the majors, making the upcoming offseason critical to refining his command and determining whether his future lies as a starter or reliever.
