Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin seemed like he would end up being a Silver Slugger finalist in 2026. Unfortunately, he cost himself that chance.

Writer Eric Cole argues that Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin contributed to missing out on a Silver Slugger finalist nod due to his mid-season decline. The National League catcher finalist spots instead went to Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman and Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno following a vote by MLB managers and coaches.
Cole notes that while Baldwin ranked second among NL catchers in wRC+ and fWAR, a mid-May oblique injury and a subsequent .756 OPS over his final 90 games weakened his counting stats and opened the door for Goodman's 41 home runs.
