The Atlanta Braves are placing veteran left-handed pitcher Martin Perez on the 15-day injured list due to lower back inflammation. Perez, who had been projected to start Game 3 of a potential National League wild-card series, is now sidelined ahead of the upcoming postseason.
According to Braves beat writer Mark Bowman, Perez will not be eligible to return until Game 3 of the NLDS, making an activation during that series unlikely. The Braves will likely turn to Grant Holmes or Bryce Elder to fill the rotation behind Chris Sale and Tyler Mahle.
