The Story in 60 Seconds

Baltimore Orioles prospect Ike Irish experienced an offensive breakout in 2026 after transitioning away from catching due to long-term throwing yips. Playing primarily in the outfield and at first base for High-A Frederick, Irish batted .286 with 16 home runs, a .528 slugging percentage, and 20 stolen bases. His strong performance earned him an appearance as the starting designated hitter in the MLB All-Star Futures Game on July 12.

Irish's regular season ended prematurely on July 22 after he tore his left meniscus running to second base, requiring surgery. Following rehabilitation, the 2025 first-round draft pick returned to action in the Arizona Fall League for Peoria, batting .353 through nine games. He is projected to open the 2027 season at the Double-A level.
