Why Jared Banner is the perfect fit as Orioles new GM

The Baltimore Orioles have hired Jared Banner as their new general manager to work alongside president of baseball operations Mike Elias. Writer Pat Ragazzo argues that Banner is an ideal fit to lead a turnaround as the Orioles aim to return to the postseason in 2027. Per the team's press release, Banner will oversee player development, coaching, and performance, while assisting Elias with front-office staffing and player acquisitions.

Banner spent the last three seasons as assistant general manager for the Chicago Cubs following stints with the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets. Ragazzo highlights Banner's extensive scouting background, including his role in Chicago's trade for Pete Crow-Armstrong, making him well-suited for Baltimore's development-focused organizational strategy.
