Former Detroit Tigers catcher Jake Rogers officially elected free agency on October 29, making him available to sign with any MLB team this winter. The veteran backstop, who spent the first 5.5 seasons of his major-league career in Detroit, became a fan favorite before departing during the 2026 campaign.
Detroit originally traded Rogers to the Baltimore Orioles on July 30 in exchange for right-handed pitcher Zane Barnhart. Rogers went on to finish the season with stints playing for the Orioles, Boston Red Sox, and Chicago White Sox before entering the open market.
