Boston Red Sox infielder Caleb Durbin underwent a PIP joint reconstruction procedure on his left pinky finger last week, the team announced. Durbin originally sustained a partial dislocation of the finger on June 24 against the Rockies, but he played through the injury without landing on the injured list.
Following Boston's elimination in the Wild Card Series, Durbin underwent postseason medical evaluations before having the surgery. While the Red Sox did not provide an official recovery timeline, Durbin is anticipated to have a normal offseason and be ready for Spring Training.
