Boston Red Sox third baseman Caleb Durbin underwent surgery to repair a fracture in his right foot, less than three weeks after an operation on his left pinky finger. The procedure, involving a partial excision of the fifth metatarsal base with tendon repair, was performed by Dr. Anish R. Kadakia at Northwestern Medical in Chicago.
Durbin previously had proximal interphalangeal joint reconstruction on his left pinky on Oct. 11, following an injury sustained in June. In his first season with the Red Sox, the 26-year-old hit 13 home runs, drove in 64 runs, and is a finalist for the American League Gold Glove Award.
