The Red Sox had three Gold Glovers in 2026, though Wilyer Abreu represents their best chance to take home the first Platinum Glove in franchise history.

Writer Brandon Glick argues that Boston Red Sox supporters should vote for outfielder Wilyer Abreu to win the American League Platinum Glove award. The Red Sox have never had a player secure the honor in its 15-year history. Abreu became eligible after winning his third consecutive Gold Glove, bolstered by an MLB-leading +28 Defensive Runs Saved during the season.
Glick notes that Red Sox teammates Ceddanne Rafaela and Caleb Durbin are also eligible after winning Gold Gloves, creating potential vote splitting. However, Glick maintains that Abreu's dominant defensive statistics make him Boston's strongest candidate, especially with 2025 winner Bobby Witt Jr. ineligible after missing out on a Gold Glove.
