On one day of rest, Braves ace Chris Sale turned in an electric four-out relief appearance to finish off the Phillies in a 6-2 win Thursday night in the deciding Game 3 of their wild-card series.

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 6-2 on Thursday night at Truist Park to clinch the NL Wild Card Series in Game 3. Pitching ace Chris Sale came out of the bullpen on one day of rest to record the final four outs, following home runs from Michael Harris II, Ozzie Albies, and Matt Olson that provided all six of Atlanta's runs.
Lefty starter Ray Kerr contributed 3⅓ scoreless innings for the Braves, allowing only two baserunners against Phillies starter Aaron Nola. Manager Walt Weiss utilized Sale for 21 pitches to seal the franchise's first playoff series victory over Philadelphia, setting up a National League Division Series matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
