Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy joked that he used a paddle in the back room on rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski after a difficult second inning. Misiorowski worked through a 35-pitch frame before settling down as Milwaukee earned a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday.
Misiorowski allowed one run across 4.1 innings, throwing 94 pitches, before Milwaukee's bullpen delivered 14 scoreless outs to seal the win. Brice Turang hit a game-tying home run, and Luis Lara drove in the winning run to snap the Brewers' seven-game postseason skid against Los Angeles.
