Japanese right-hander Kaima Taira will be posted by the Seibu Lions, giving MLB teams, including the Chicago Cubs, a chance to sign him this offseason.

Jake Misener of Cubbies Crib suggests the Chicago Cubs could target Japanese right-hander Kaima Taira to address significant starting rotation needs this winter. With Matthew Boyd and Clay Holmes opting out, and Shota Imanaga set to depart, Cubs president Jed Hoyer faces a major rebuild on the pitching staff. The Seibu Lions announced Taira will be posted for Major League Baseball teams in the coming weeks.
Misener notes Taira posted a 1.36 ERA across 146 innings last season after transitioning back to a starting role. Any signing will require paying a posting fee based on his contract value, though a potential MLB lockout on December 2 could pause his 45-day negotiating window.
