Fresh off facial fractures, Bregman mashes 2 homers in 2nd game back

Chicago Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman hit two home runs in his first two at-bats against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday at Tropicana Field. Playing in just his second game back since suffering multiple facial fractures in his left cheek from a foul ball, Bregman requested to start to prepare for the postseason.

Bregman served as the designated hitter, hitting his 27th and 28th home runs of the season. Cubs manager Craig Counsell indicated that the team is considering keeping Bregman at designated hitter during the upcoming National League Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres to minimize injury risk.
