Chase Meidroth didn't take home the Gold Glove at second base despite exceeding in several metrics, giving him another chip on his shoulder for next season.

Noah Phalen argues that Chicago White Sox second baseman Chase Meidroth was brutally snubbed for the American League Gold Glove award. Seattle Mariners infielder Cole Young won the award over Meidroth when Rawlings announced the winners on Sunday night. Meidroth had a breakout 2026 season for Chicago, finishing in the 95th percentile with +10 Outs Above Average compared to Young's -6.
Phalen notes that Young held a significant edge in Defensive Runs Saved with +16 compared to Meidroth's 0. Young also led in the SABR Defensive Index, which accounts for 25 percent of the voting selection process alongside player and manager voting. Phalen suggests the disappointment can serve as additional motivation for the 25-year-old infielder heading into 2027.
