Should the Cincinnati Reds trade Elly De La Cruz this offseason? Unfortunately, there might not be a better time than the present.

Drew Koch of Blog Red Machine argues that the Cincinnati Reds should trade superstar shortstop Elly De La Cruz during the current offseason. The writer suggests that a weak upcoming free-agent market and the threat of an impending MLB lockout in 2027 create ideal market conditions for Cincinnati to secure a franchise-altering return.
According to the opinion piece, waiting another year could diminish De La Cruz's trade value due to a lost season of team control and increased competition from future market options such as Jeremy Peña, CJ Abrams, and Zach Neto.
