There's still plenty of time for the Cincinnati Reds and Tyler Stephenson to come to terms on a new deal. But do they want to?

Jim Bowden of The Athletic projects free-agent catcher Tyler Stephenson could sign a two-year, $16 million contract, listing the Cincinnati Reds among his likely destinations alongside the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Angels. Writer Drew Koch notes that while an $8 million annual average value seems reasonable for the veteran backstop, both sides have shown hesitation to finalize a long-term commitment.
Koch highlights that Cincinnati may hesitate due to top catching prospect Alfredo Duno needing another year before reaching the majors, alongside backup Jose Trevino being signed through 2027. Meanwhile, other forecasts suggest Stephenson could command more, including a Spotrac projection of a four-year, $46 million deal.
