The Guardians are giving the ball to Parker Messick in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series.

Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt has announced that pitcher Parker Messick will start Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox. Gavin Williams is slated to start Game 2. Messick earned the postseason opening nod after posting a 2.56 ERA across 186 1/3 innings during a breakout 2026 campaign.
The 25-year-old starter faced the White Sox four times in the regular season, recording a 2.81 ERA over 25 2/3 innings while pitching at least six innings in three of those outings. The ALDS schedule also allows Messick to potentially start Game 4 on standard rest.
