Top Cleveland Guardians prospect Ralphy Velazquez could make an immediate major league impact similar to rookie Chase DeLauter in 2027. Cleveland.com's Terry Pluto praised the 21-year-old as the organization's best minor league hitting prospect since DeLauter in 2023. Jimmy Swartz reports that after the Guardians struggled offensively throughout 2026, Velazquez is expected to factor into the team's big-league plans to supply much-needed lineup power.
Velazquez batted .290 with 29 home runs and a .927 OPS across 121 games between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus in 2026. Ranked by MLB Pipeline as Cleveland's top prospect and 29th overall, his primary defensive path to the majors is at first base, where current veterans Nathaniel Lowe and Rhys Hoskins are entering free agency.
